The Commission for Modern Austrian History is one of the oldest independent historic research institutions in Austria.

For more than a century the Commission is active in the field of historic research. The focus is on the edition of primary sources and on accompanying studies.

The Commission’s Veröffentlichungen der Kommission für Neuere Geschichte (Publications of the Commission for Modern Austrian History) are one of the most prestigious series in the field of history in Austria. A primary working fields of The Commission consists of digital editing and online publishing. In tight cooperation with University Innsbruck through the contract signed in 2012 we will republish editions out of print online through our website. Furthermore, new editorial projects are planned and carried out according to the guidelines for digital editing.
